I lost my head

as i watched his eyes dim the sun in yours,

failing to make up for the absence of

the love he had previously adorned

for you.

Did he tell you that

you have the sun in your eyes?

or did his moon take all its light

before you knew?

The foreign expression I saw when he looked at you,

was my mind playing tricks?

It must have been so,

for i could never imagine such love to wither.

Soon enough, you will be seeing less of him

next to you in your vulnerable moments

“I’m busy,” he will say

but

we both know the war he seems to be in

with himself.

When the war is over, he will approach you

blood stained cheeks and forlorn face

“I don’t think I love you anymore.”

and we will sit

and think for the real tragedy.
