Stop being delusional about your time

For all my life, I felt like time was like water in my hand, seeping through the tiniest cracks and never in my control.

And, you know what? Maybe it is. But that doesn’t mean you live in fear of all the water you’re letting go, dropping mindlessly; it means you open your palm and see that water is still clinging to the faint curves of your skin. You have time, and you’re not behind anyone.

Some people achieve milestones faster than others, while others are slower than the rest. Life is not a race to each checkpoint, and neither is each checkpoint same for everyone. It is not about who reaches first, and it’s definitely not about who finishes first. Give yourself grace and take it slow, it’s your first time experiencing life, no one knows how it works.

You don’t want to be 80 one day, looking back and trying to wonder where all the time went.

Due to the social media ways our generation is used to, it's hard to not feel insecure about your appearance, achievements, living situation, you name it. We find ourselves comparing everything about ourselves to people we don’t know, trying to reach inhumane standards, for what? What is it you are trying so hard to prove? That you can do it? That you’re just as good, just as pretty, just as rich as them?

Someone’s win doesn’t mean your loss.

You’re too young to feel that time is running out. Think of yourself exactly a year ago. So much has changed you can't help but think, “Wow, I was so stupid back then.” You are growing and changing every day, and every day is a new opportunity to tackle something. Slow your fast pace down if you want to get anywhere near a fulfilled, long life.

In a fast paced world, be the slow you need. From fast-form content consumption to frequently changing world conditions, our brains don’t have time to pause. Before you’re finished with one thought, you’re already on to the other, then the other, and then the other. We need to be comfortable with being bored and thoughtless to give our brains a rest.

You’re young, and you can figure it out, like you always do. Take time for everything and don’t  be afraid of being slower than the rest, nobody is timing you. Don’t let anybody fool you into thinking that you are behind. No matter how similar, you are on your own path that is different from 8 billion other paths; Of course you aren’t going to be at the same point at the same time. Read fat books, lose yourself in a topic you find interesting, go on walks without a route, try new recipes, do the thing you wanted to do, sit and watch people for no reason; because you, dear reader, are not running out of time.
